Quoin Rock produces two blended wines under the Glenhurst label. Varietals are carefully blended to achieve complexity and balance. The fruit used for the Glenhurst White Blend originates from our own vineyards..
2007 VINTAGE
Following a winter with good rainfall 2007 promised to be good vintage. A heat wave early in February caused all cultivars to ripen early with massive concentration of flavours resulting in intense wines with great texture and mouth feel.
VITICULTURE
The fruit used for making Glenhurst originates from select blocks of carefully managed vineyards. Vineyards are spur pruned with vertical shoot positioning and yields are strictly managed to enable the vine to optimally ripen the crop.
WINEMAKING
The Glenhurst 2007 White Blend is a blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Viognier. Hand sorted fruit from dry land vineyards was lightly crushed and gently pressed. Juice was settled and racked to 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels for fermentation and a 6 month ageing, with periodic re-suspension of the yeast lees. No enzymes or tartaric acid were used during the winemaking process.
THE WINE
The Glenhurst 2007 White Blend is characterised by yellow apple, lichi and fresh apricot aromas with hints of citrus. The palette is full and textured with a lingering finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideally served at 10° Celsius, this blend will complement full flavoured and mildly spiced dishes.
AGEING POTENTIAL
The Glenhurst 2007 is drinking well on release and will increase in complexity with ageing for a further 5 years from vintage.
