Quoin Rock produces two blended wines under the Glenhurst label. Varietals are carefully blended to achieve complexity and balance. The fruit used for the Glenhurst White Blend originates from our own vineyards..
2005 VINTAGE
2005 was a particularly hot and dry vintage. Towards the end of ripening, stress levels increased in the vines, and yields had to be carefully managed to ensure a crop with good physiological ripeness
VITICULTURE
The fruit used for making Glenhurst originates from select blocks of immaculately managed vineyards. Vineyards are spur pruned with vertical shoot positioning and yields are strictly managed to enable the vine to optimally ripen the crop.
WINEMAKING
The Glenhurst 2005 White Blend is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Viognier. Hand sorted fruit was lightly crushed and gently pressed. Juice was settled and racked to 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels for fermentation and a 6 month ageing, with periodic re-suspension of the yeast lees. A light filtration was done before bottling.
THE WINE
The Glenhurst 2005 White Blend is characterised by a floral bouquet of honeysuckle and spice with an unctuous mouth-feel and lingering after taste.
FOOD PAIRING
Ideally served at eleven ° Celsius, this blend will complement full flavoured and mildly spiced dishes.
AGEING POTENTIAL
The Glenhurst 2005 is drinking well on release and will increase in complexity with ageing for a further 4 years from vintage.
